Starfield is currently set for a November 2022 release date. He goes on to say "would plan to have the kind of gap we're having between Skyrim and the follow-up? I can't say that's a good thing." While acknowledging that the gap wasn't ideal, Howard did mention that it was a necessary one in order for Bethesda to explore new universes, such as Starfield. According to him, the fandom shouldn’t anticipate that The Elder Scrolls 6 should release sooner than 2026, which leaves players with 5 years of painful hiatus from the game.
